Welcome to the
Fallout Shelter Ecovillage
A desert intentional community modeling sustainable living, ecological covenants, and cooperative life. Visitors, learners, and new members welcome — by arrangement.
Our Mission
A model for sustainable, cooperative desert life.
We understand how many people find it difficult to live sustainably and responsibly within modern US culture. The Fallout Shelter Ecovillage exists to build a healthy alternative — and to share what we learn.
Members follow ecological covenants and sustainability guidelines as we pursue environmentally sound practices. We welcome individuals, families, and income-sharing communities, and encourage co-housing and cooperatives that promote economic diversity and simple living.
Rather than isolating ourselves, we work as a model for social change — actively sharing discoveries and ideas of sustainable living with people across many different lifestyles.
Ecological Covenants
Shared guidelines that keep the land and our practices in balance.
Cooperative Living
Co-housing, work exchange, and income sharing as paths to simpler living.
Open Knowledge
We share what works — and what does not — with visitors and the wider world.
Ways to Engage
Programs
Guided Tours
A first look at FoSE.
A short, pre-arranged tour of the ecovillage. Best for media, researchers, and people exploring whether the visitor program is for them.
Visitor Program
Five to seven days, hands-on.
An in-depth stay (5–7 day minimum) participating in daily tasks, cooking, and projects. Visitors camp on-site and bring their own equipment.
Multi-Month Internships
Live, build, and learn.
For people serious about ecovillage life. Internships combine longer-term residence with deeper participation in our ecological and cooperative work.
Plan a Visit
Scheduled visitors welcome — no drop-ins.
FoSE welcomes scheduled visitors only. Plan on a five-to-seven day minimum stay so we can host you well and so you can experience the rhythm of community life. Visitors participate in daily tasks and camp on-site (bring your own gear).
We ask for voluntary contributions rather than fixed fees — typically about $7 per person per day for food and facilities, and $0.60 per mile for vehicle pickups. Alternative arrangements are available for those facing financial hardship.
